Destin CompassIndependent trip guidance

For Destin-area operators

Founding partner programme

Destin Compass is an independent traveller decision-support platform. People arrive here still deciding what kind of trip fits their group — rental or captained, private or shared, inshore or offshore — and we help them work it out. Some of them then want an introduction to an operator.

We are opening a paid commercial pilot with a small number of founding partners: a maximum of one per eligible category, with every inquiry reviewed by a person before it is routed. This page explains exactly what that is, and — just as importantly — what it is not.

What we do for travellers

Worth understanding before you decide whether an introduction from us is worth having, because it is the reason it might be.

We meet travellers before they have chosen a company
People arrive here comparing formats — rental or captained, private or shared, half day or full, inshore or offshore. That is upstream of a booking page. By the time someone reaches your site from a search, the format decision is usually already made; here, it is still open.
We help them work out what fits, in public
Every activity carries the same ten planning attributes and the same twelve traveller-fit assessments, and every recommendation states who should skip it. Decision guides, comparisons, itineraries and three free tools do the work that would otherwise arrive in your inbox as questions.
We say plainly what nobody can promise
Weather, water clarity, dolphin sightings, a catch, crowd levels, availability and price are all published as things we cannot guarantee. A traveller who has read that arrives with calibrated expectations, which is a materially different conversation from one who has not.
We publish no ratings, rankings or best-of lists
There is no leaderboard to buy into, because there is no leaderboard. What is for sale is a founding position in a category, not a placement above a competitor.

You can read the whole traveller side yourself — start with the planning hub, the decision scorecards or what we cannot promise.

Why a decision-stage inquiry may be worth more than a form fill

“May be” is doing real work in that sentence. We have not proven this at volume, and we will not pretend otherwise. Here is the reasoning, so you can judge it yourself:

  • The traveller has already worked through format, group fit and trade-offs, so the conversation starts further along.
  • They consented explicitly to being contacted about their request — this is an introduction, not a scraped contact.
  • The inquiry carries context: group shape, rough timing, private-or-shared preference, budget band and stated priorities.
  • Expectations about weather, wildlife and cancellation have been set before you speak, not during a complaint.
  • A person reviews each inquiry before it reaches you, so obvious non-starters do not.

What the founding arrangement is, and is not

Everything below is stated the same way on every page of this programme and in the working term sheet. If any of it changes, it changes everywhere.

One founding partner per eligible category
During the pilot we intend to work with a maximum of one founding partner in each eligible category. Availability depends on fit, executed terms, payment, and continued operating standards — it is not reserved by applying, and it is not permanent.
Leads are reviewed by a person, then routed
Every traveller inquiry is read and checked against minimum criteria before it goes anywhere. During the founding period this is manual and deliberately so: it is how we learn what a genuinely useful inquiry looks like in each category.
This is a paid commercial pilot
It is not indefinite free lead delivery, and it is not a trial that quietly converts. Terms, timing and payment are agreed in writing before any lead is routed to you.
No volume, booking or revenue guarantee
We do not guarantee a number of inquiries, a booking, revenue, a ranking position, or a duration of category ownership. Anybody in this industry who guarantees those things is describing something they do not control.
You run the business; we run the decision layer
Availability, response, pricing, quoting, licensing, insurance, safety, customer service and closing remain entirely yours. We help a traveller work out what fits, and we introduce them.
We are not the provider
Destin Compass is an independent traveller decision-support and matching platform. We are not the activity provider, the booking agent or the tour operator, and we do not hold inventory or take bookings.
Applying is not acceptance
Submitting an application does not create a commercial relationship, guarantee acceptance, or hold a category. We reply either way.

Eligible categories

These are the 7 categories Destin Compass already publishes traveller decision content for. We are not opening categories we do not cover, and we are not extending beyond the Destin area. Each page below sets out what an inquiry in that category actually looks like.

Category availability is not shown on this page, because a published availability list would go stale the moment a conversation started. Ask, and we will tell you where a category actually stands.

Things we are not

  • Not a booking platform. We hold no inventory, take no bookings and check no availability.
  • Not a pay-to-rank directory. We publish no ratings, rankings or best-of lists, so there is no position to buy.
  • Not a commission model during the pilot. The founding arrangement is a flat commercial agreement, not a cut of your bookings.
  • Not a marketing agency. We do not run your ads, build your funnel or manage your brand.
  • Not a verification service. We ask operators to confirm licensing, credentialing and insurance; we do not verify them and we publish no claim that we have.

The standard we would apply to you is published in full in the operator vetting standard — worth reading before you apply, because it is what we would ask you to evidence.

Request a founding-partner conversation

There is no price on this page. Founding terms are agreed in a conversation and put in writing, because a pilot priced before we understand your capacity and season would be a number we invented.

Submitting this does not create a commercial relationship, guarantee acceptance, or hold a category. We read every application and reply either way.

Your operation

Optional.

Optional, but it helps us understand your operation.

Category and coverage

Where you actually operate — for example the Destin harbour area, or the bay.

Operating standards

We ask you to confirm these; we do not verify them, and we publish no claim that we have. Please do not upload or send documents — we are not asking for any.

Where your operation requires one. Optional if it does not apply.

Optional. Boat sizes, group caps, how far ahead you fill.

Optional. Months you do not run, reduced schedules, weather closures.

Fit

A couple of sentences is plenty. We are more interested in how you handle a bad-weather day than in a sales pitch.

We use these answers only to assess fit and to reply. We do not ask for documents, payment details or government identifiers, and we do not sell or share operator details. What you write here is never sent to analytics. See our privacy policy. Submitting this application does not guarantee acceptance or exclusivity.

Looking for something less formal? The general partner enquiry is still open for operators who want to talk about referral or profile arrangements rather than a founding pilot. Last updated 2026-07-30.
