How we review — and what inclusion means

This page exists so you can hold us to something. It describes the standards our operator evaluations follow, what we verify before anything is published, and — just as important — what our recommendations are not.

Current status, honestly: our operator verification process is in progress, and no operator profiles are published yet. We have not completed reviews, so we don't claim any. Until profiles go live, our guides deliberately teach decisions rather than name companies.

What future evaluations consider

Clear public trip information
Durations, departure points, capacity and what's included, stated plainly on the operator's own materials — because that's what travelers rely on.
Suitability transparency
Does the operator say who a trip is for — and who it isn't? Age minimums, swim expectations, driver requirements and restrictions stated up front score well.
Cancellation and weather policies
A findable, written policy: who calls the weather, by when, and what happens to the traveler's money.
Equipment and inclusions
What's provided (gear, flotation, kid sizes, fuel terms, food and drink) versus sold as extras, stated before checkout.
Communication quality
Real answers to real pre-booking questions — the strongest predictor we know of a well-run trip.
Departure logistics
Clear meeting points, check-in expectations and parking guidance.
Family planning information
How well the operator supports the Family Fit questions: shade, restrooms, kid gear, early-return posture.
Recency
Whether published information is current. Every verified fact in a future profile carries a source and a last-verified date, and stale profiles get rechecked or unpublished.

What inclusion is not

These are our editorial standards. The operational checklist we apply to specific operators — and that you can use yourself before booking — is published as the Destin tour operator vetting standard.
