For the full water-everything experience with peak crowds and prices: June through August. For value and mild beach days without much swimming: November through February. For the warming ramp: March–May, dodging the spring-break weeks if crowds aren't your scene. - The Gulf holds summer warmth for weeks after the crowds leave. Boats run, prices soften, the sandbar goes calm-weekday even on weekends. The asterisk is peak hurricane season: overwhelmingly fine on any given week, worth insuring against on any given booking.
- November–February: the quiet value
- Mild walking-weather beaches, the fleet partly seasonal, swimming for the brave. Fishing continues, calm-day boat outings happen, lodging is at its cheapest. Come for rest and bargains, not for the water-day version of the town.
- March–May: the ramp
- March brings spring-break energy and cool-but-warming water; by May the Gulf sweetens and summer is loading. A savvy window for boat bookings before peak pricing lands — with the one caveat of picking your March weeks deliberately.

Is hurricane season a reason to skip fall?
It's a reason to book fall smart, not skip it: any specific week is overwhelmingly likely to be lovely, and fall's warm-water-thin-crowd combination is the best value on the calendar.
