Founding Partner — Fishing Charters
Inshore or offshore is the real fork, and sea legs decide it more often than budget.
We intend to work with a maximum of one founding partner in this category during the pilot. Availability depends on fit, executed terms, payment and continued operating standards. Applying does not hold the category, and we make no guarantee of lead volume, bookings, revenue or how long category ownership would last.
What travellers are deciding in this category
These are the actual forks our content walks people through before they ask for an introduction. An inquiry that reaches you has usually been shaped by them.
- Inshore versus offshore — which we frame around motion tolerance and trip length rather than around ambition.
- Shared party boat versus private charter, which changes both the cost structure and the day.
- Trip length matched to the least patient person aboard, not the most enthusiastic.
- Whether anyone in the group is prone to motion sickness, tested rather than assumed.
Intent signals an inquiry may carry
Self-reported by the traveller, and only as much as they chose to tell us. We do not infer, score or enrich.
- Whether they have named inshore or offshore, or are asking us to help them decide
- Group composition, particularly children and untested first-timers
- Whether motion sensitivity was flagged
- Their rough window and whether it is fixed
- Whether the fishing itself or the day out is the priority
What you would actually receive
A reviewed inquiry, delivered manually during the founding period. Structured context first, contact instructions second.
- An anonymous lead ID, party size and the rough window, with any fixed date flagged
- Inshore or offshore preference where stated, and their experience level
- Whether motion sensitivity was disclosed — which we pass on because it changes what you should recommend
- How to reach them, and any question they raised about licence coverage or what may be kept
Traveller identity is never used as an analytics value or an internal record key — we work from an anonymous lead ID. You receive what you need to help them, and nothing beyond it.
A strong fit here
- You will steer a family inshore when that is the right call, even though offshore pays more
- You explain plainly what may be kept on a given date, and that regulators set it
- You are clear about what is included and what is separate before a deposit
- Your captains teach, which is what turns a slow day into a good one
Probably not a fit
- You book untested groups offshore without asking about motion
- You imply a catch, or let a traveller believe one is likely without qualification
- Licence coverage for passengers is not something you can answer immediately
Response expectations
Same-day, and specific about what is realistic on their date. Fishing inquiries usually contain a question you can answer better than we can, and answering it well is most of the sale.
This is an expectation we would agree with you, not a service level we impose or measure automatically. During the pilot, response time is recorded manually from the delivery timestamp.
Capacity and availability realities
Category-specific things we would want you to be explicit about, because travellers ask us and we will not guess on your behalf.
- Offshore availability is weather-governed in a way inshore is not; describe both honestly
- Party-boat and private-charter capacity are different constraints — be explicit about which applies
- Peak-season captains fill first; we will ask you to say when you are genuinely full rather than holding a slot
Licensing, insurance and safety
We ask; we do not verify. Nothing on Destin Compass describes any operator as vetted, verified, approved, licensed or insured, because we are not a regulator and we do not inspect vessels. What we publish is the standard we would apply and the questions we would ask.
- We ask you to confirm licensing and credentialing for the vessel and crew, and commercial insurance. We do not verify these and we publish no statement that we have.
- We ask how passenger licence coverage works on your vessel, because travellers ask us constantly and we refuse to guess.
- We point travellers at the state wildlife authority for seasons and limits rather than restating regulations ourselves.
Programme terms
Identical in every category, and identical to the working term sheet.
- One founding partner per eligible category
- During the pilot we intend to work with a maximum of one founding partner in each eligible category. Availability depends on fit, executed terms, payment, and continued operating standards — it is not reserved by applying, and it is not permanent.
- Leads are reviewed by a person, then routed
- Every traveller inquiry is read and checked against minimum criteria before it goes anywhere. During the founding period this is manual and deliberately so: it is how we learn what a genuinely useful inquiry looks like in each category.
- This is a paid commercial pilot
- It is not indefinite free lead delivery, and it is not a trial that quietly converts. Terms, timing and payment are agreed in writing before any lead is routed to you.
- No volume, booking or revenue guarantee
- We do not guarantee a number of inquiries, a booking, revenue, a ranking position, or a duration of category ownership. Anybody in this industry who guarantees those things is describing something they do not control.
- You run the business; we run the decision layer
- Availability, response, pricing, quoting, licensing, insurance, safety, customer service and closing remain entirely yours. We help a traveller work out what fits, and we introduce them.
- We are not the provider
- Destin Compass is an independent traveller decision-support and matching platform. We are not the activity provider, the booking agent or the tour operator, and we do not hold inventory or take bookings.
- Applying is not acceptance
- Submitting an application does not create a commercial relationship, guarantee acceptance, or hold a category. We reply either way.
Apply for this category
Tell us about your operation and we will tell you honestly where this category stands. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance or exclusivity, and it does not hold the category while we talk.
