Founding Partner — Crab Island Trips
Boat-access-only, mixed-age groups, and a decision that is really about how they get there.
We intend to work with a maximum of one founding partner in this category during the pilot. Availability depends on fit, executed terms, payment and continued operating standards. Applying does not hold the category, and we make no guarantee of lead volume, bookings, revenue or how long category ownership would last.
What travellers are deciding in this category
These are the actual forks our content walks people through before they ask for an introduction. An inquiry that reaches you has usually been shaped by them.
- Whether to take a bare rental, a captained charter or a shared shuttle-style trip — this single choice determines the whole day and most of the cost.
- Whether the sandbar suits their group at all, or whether a beach day gives them the same thing with shade and facilities.
- How long a block they can actually manage, which is set by sun tolerance and provisioning rather than by budget.
- Whether a weekday morning or a peak weekend is what they want, because those are different places.
Intent signals an inquiry may carry
Self-reported by the traveller, and only as much as they chose to tell us. We do not infer, score or enrich.
- Group size and shape, including whether non-swimmers or small children are aboard
- Whether they have already decided between rental, captained and shared
- Rough travel window and how flexible it is
- Whether shade, a ladder and a restroom aboard are stated priorities
- Whether the sandbar is the reason for the trip or one item on a list
What you would actually receive
A reviewed inquiry, delivered manually during the founding period. Structured context first, contact instructions second.
- An anonymous lead ID, the category, and the traveller's stated group shape and rough window
- Their private-or-shared preference and their budget band, both self-reported
- The decision factors they told us mattered — shade, non-swimmers, wanting quiet, wanting the flotilla
- Whether they have already settled the rental-versus-captained question, or want advice on it
- How to reach them, and the same-day expectation we set for sandbar enquiries
Traveller identity is never used as an analytics value or an internal record key — we work from an anonymous lead ID. You receive what you need to help them, and nothing beyond it.
A strong fit here
- You run trips where shade and a usable boarding ladder are genuinely provided, not implied
- You are comfortable telling a group honestly that a windy morning is a bad sandbar day
- You can accommodate mixed-age groups where several people will not swim
- You answer questions about provisioning and restrooms directly rather than deflecting
Probably not a fit
- You market the sandbar as an island or imply facilities that are not there
- Your only availability is peak weekend afternoons and you present that as the standard experience
- You would rather not discuss cancellation terms before a deposit
Response expectations
Same-day response during operating season, and a clear yes or no on availability rather than an open-ended hold. Sandbar trips are frequently booked close to the date, so a slow reply is usually a lost trip for both of us.
This is an expectation we would agree with you, not a service level we impose or measure automatically. During the pilot, response time is recorded manually from the delivery timestamp.
Capacity and availability realities
Category-specific things we would want you to be explicit about, because travellers ask us and we will not guess on your behalf.
- Weekday mornings and peak weekends are effectively different products; be explicit about which you are quoting
- Group size caps matter more here than in most categories, because the appeal is doing one thing together
- Wind, not rain, drives cancellation — your policy should distinguish them, and we will ask how it does
Licensing, insurance and safety
We ask; we do not verify. Nothing on Destin Compass describes any operator as vetted, verified, approved, licensed or insured, because we are not a regulator and we do not inspect vessels. What we publish is the standard we would apply and the questions we would ask.
- We ask operators to confirm their own licensing, credentialing and commercial insurance position. We do not verify it, and we publish no claim that we have.
- For self-drive rentals we ask what you require of whoever operates the boat, and we point travellers at the state authority rather than summarising rules ourselves.
- We ask what safety equipment is carried and in what child sizes, because travellers ask us and we will not guess.
Programme terms
Identical in every category, and identical to the working term sheet.
- One founding partner per eligible category
- During the pilot we intend to work with a maximum of one founding partner in each eligible category. Availability depends on fit, executed terms, payment, and continued operating standards — it is not reserved by applying, and it is not permanent.
- Leads are reviewed by a person, then routed
- Every traveller inquiry is read and checked against minimum criteria before it goes anywhere. During the founding period this is manual and deliberately so: it is how we learn what a genuinely useful inquiry looks like in each category.
- This is a paid commercial pilot
- It is not indefinite free lead delivery, and it is not a trial that quietly converts. Terms, timing and payment are agreed in writing before any lead is routed to you.
- No volume, booking or revenue guarantee
- We do not guarantee a number of inquiries, a booking, revenue, a ranking position, or a duration of category ownership. Anybody in this industry who guarantees those things is describing something they do not control.
- You run the business; we run the decision layer
- Availability, response, pricing, quoting, licensing, insurance, safety, customer service and closing remain entirely yours. We help a traveller work out what fits, and we introduce them.
- We are not the provider
- Destin Compass is an independent traveller decision-support and matching platform. We are not the activity provider, the booking agent or the tour operator, and we do not hold inventory or take bookings.
- Applying is not acceptance
- Submitting an application does not create a commercial relationship, guarantee acceptance, or hold a category. We reply either way.
Apply for this category
Tell us about your operation and we will tell you honestly where this category stands. Submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance or exclusivity, and it does not hold the category while we talk.
