Destin Double Red Flag: Water Closed

The water is closed. What happens to everything we booked?
A double red is a closure ordered by the authority responsible for that beach, and it is not advisory. The board at your access and Okaloosa County are the authority on what is closed and for how long. We are not, and we will not paraphrase them.
What happens to each of the seven
Three groups, not two. Most planning pages collapse this into cancelled or fine, and the middle group — it runs, and it is a lesser version of what you booked — is where most people actually end up.
Still worth doing
Runs, and is still the thing you booked.
Nothing falls into this group for this condition.
Runs, but diminished
Goes ahead as a lesser version of itself. Worth a phone call rather than a cancellation.
Protected-water trips sometimes continue. The operator decides.
A closed beach and a runnable offshore trip can coexist. Ask; do not assume either way.
A captain will tell you honestly whether there is a version of the day worth having.
Depends entirely on what produced the closure.
Effectively gone
Either it does not run, or what runs is not what you paid for.
In-water trips are the first thing to stop.
The conditions that produce a closure are the same conditions that make the sandbar pointless.
Rental companies generally stop in the conditions that close a beach.
You already booked something
Contact every operator you have booked with. Do not wait to be contacted, and get the cancellation or reschedule position in writing.
This is the day the whole trip needs its spare day. If your plan has none, that is a lesson for the next trip rather than something we can solve today.
