Destin Second Visit: Worth Doing Twice

Updated

We have a week. What improves on a second go, and what does not?

Meets the criterion (5 of 7)

  • Crab Island

The only one of the seven that genuinely improves the second time: you know what to bring and you stop paying attention to the boat.

  • Fishing charters

Inshore then offshore, or the same boat with a different target, are genuinely different days.

  • Pontoon rentals

The second day is the good one — the first is spent learning the boat and the water.

  • Private boat charters

A second charter with a different brief is a different day, which is the point of buying the day rather than the trip.

  • Snorkeling

Conditions change day to day, so a second trip is genuinely a different one — which is also why one bad morning should not settle your opinion.

Falls outside it (2 of 7)

Shown with the reason, because “why not” is usually more useful than the shortlist — and because a table that hides its exclusions is telling you what to book.

  • Dolphin cruises

The second one is the same trip. If the first was good, spend the money on something different.

  • Sunset cruises

The same hour on a different boat is a different evening, but not a different experience.
