Constraint planning
Destin for Large Families and Groups
Updated
How does group size change the plan?
Capacity is the constraint nobody checks until late. The boat that suited the plan may hold fewer people than the group has, and finding out at the dock is the worst possible time.
Per-boat pricing rewards a large group and per-person pricing punishes one. Which of the two you are buying changes the arithmetic more than anything else on this page.
What this does to each of the seven
All seven are here, including the ones this constraint rules out. A page that only listed what still works would be hiding the part you most need.
Workable
One of the few days a group with nothing in common can genuinely do together. Boat capacity is the only question.
Shared decks absorb a group easily. Book together so you are not split.
Per-boat pricing and a shared day both work best with a larger party. Confirm the capacity in writing.
Per-boat pricing rewards a large party and punishes a couple. This is where the arithmetic works for you.
Both shared and private options handle groups. Sunset capacity is the constraint, not size.
Complicated, not impossible
Vessel capacity bites hardest here. A large party often means two boats or a party boat, and those are different trips.
Mixed swimming confidence across a large group is the usual complication, not the boat.
What to ask before you pay
Take these to the operator, not to us. They are the only ones who can answer for their own boat, and a good operator will answer all three without hedging.
- What is the maximum capacity on the specific boat, not the category?
- If we exceed it, do you run two boats, and do they stay together?
- Is the price per boat or per person, and what changes at what number?
Ask about the ones that work
Only the formats listed above as workable. The complicated ones are worth a conversation too, and that conversation belongs with an operator who can answer for their own boat rather than with us.
We have no booking link for this yet, so this goes to a person instead. Tell us the shape of your trip and we will come back with options that actually fit — no availability held, no obligation, and nothing booked.
Confirm before you pay: Shade, ladder, restroom aboard, cooler rules, where you will anchor relative to the channel, and the weather policy.

Confirm before you pay: Whether the deck is quiet or lively, passenger capacity and seating, and how they talk to families about sightings.

Confirm before you pay: Fuel policy, what they require of the driver, which waters the boat is permitted in, and the deposit or damage hold.
